[*] HARKIN: Well, thank you all for being here. Well, the Republicans ballyhooed Health Week as coming to a close and, as we suspected, it has been a sham and a farce. Absolutely nothing's been accomplished.

Just as everyone predicted, the three bills brought up by Senator Frist went nowhere.

Meanwhile, the Republican leadership refused our pleas to allow a vote on H.R. 810, the bill to life the president's restrictions on embryonic stem cell research.

Make no mistake about it: This is the number one health research priority of the American people. So think about it. It's now been 352 days since the House passed this bill with a strong bipartisan vote....
