GOVERNOR-ELECT KAINE HOLDS A NEWS CONFERENCE

SPEAKER: GOVERNOR-ELECT TIM KAINE (D-VA)

[*] KAINE: Thank you all very much, and good morning. It's good to be with you. My life's changed a lot in the last few hours, but I'm here to say that it's changed in a positive because some of the people that I have standing with me who will play critical role in the transition to governance over the next 66 days. The purpose of this press conference is to do two things: to talk about the team that we've put in place to guide us through the transition and inaugural; and second, to talk about the activities that I will undertake in the first two months, as promised in November and December, to get ready to assume office in January.

First, I want to acknowledge the presence in the room of my dear, dear friend, Senator Creigh Deeds.

Where is Creigh?

Oh, he was here earlier -- he was here earlier in the room. And I just want to acknowledge his presence.

As all of you know, the margin in the attorney general's race is within the half point under which, if there is a request, there will be a state-paid recount. The Deeds campaign is working to make sure that every vote is counted. They have put both a transition committee and ...
