[*] BILBRAY: Let me first say thank you for being here. And this is a really momentous day for the American people, and actually, participation of the American people in the process.

Citizens have voiced their concerns about what they perceived was a terrible mistake in the Senate. And they voiced their concerns not only to the senators but to the House of Representatives.

We took a vote earlier this week that really sent a very clear message of our opinion of the Senate bill. And through phone calls, e-mails and direct communication, the American people have communicated their opinion of the Senate proposal.

Today the Senate took pause to stop and not make what a lot of us feel was a major mistake. And now, we really are at a position where now we can set a course that will actually address illegal immigration, do the kind of service that the Ame...
