SENS. MURRAY AND SANDERS HOLD A NEWS TELECONFERENCE ON VETERANS

[*] MURRAY: Well, thank you for joining us. Clearly tomorrow is a very important day for our Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee. General Peake is going to come before us. He's been nominated by the president to head up the V.A. at a very, very critical time for our nation. We all believe in our Democratic Caucus -- and I think in our country, really -- that caring for our veterans is not an option; it's a moral obligation.

As I travel around and talk to people everywhere, they believe that at this time, no matter how they feel about the war -- whether they've supported, or not supported it -- they believe strongly that caring for our veterans has to be a number one priority for this nation.
