BRUCE BRALEY, D-IOWA [*] VAN HOLLEN: Well, let me thank all of you for joining us today as we reintroduce the Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act, legislation that has passed the Congress in previous sessions and also passed by unanimous consent in the form of an amendment on the economic recovery bill and, of course, did not make it all the way through the process.

You're going to be hearing from my colleagues, as well. The chairman of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Mr. Towns, is here. You're going to be hearing from him. Bruce Braley, who has also been a champion of open and transparent government, you're going to be hearing from him.

Mr. Platts is on the way. And I just want to say, before he gets here, that this is something he's been working on for a very long time, and it's great to -- for us to have been a partner with him in this effort.

And Mr. Waxman, who can't join us right now, but, of course, has been a champion of this legislation.
