[*] ALEXANDER: Good afternoon. I'm going to introduce Senator Bond and Senator Hatch and then Senator Cornyn to make brief statements.

But first, let me say this, that the American people have sent a clear signal to Washington: They want us to change the way we do business. And we Republicans and many Democrats in the United States Senate have been doing that.

At the end of the year, we had principled arguments and we passed an energy bill in a bipartisan way.
